The Sunflower and Butterflies design is symbolic of the transformational process of being born again in Christ. When we confess that Jesus is the Son of God, and believe in our hearts that God raised Him up from the dead, we receive new life through the power of the Holy Spirit. Like butterflies feasting on the nectar of a sunflower and taking flight, we thrive in Christ by choosing an ALTARed life. Christ says, "Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day." (John 6:54). Jesus says that as we nourish ourselves in Him, through His body and blood, we will be raised up with His life IN us. The sacrament of communion is essential to our faith, but Jesus is hinting at more than a wafer and grape juice at church. His body is the bread of life, which is God's Word, and He urges us to remain in Him by saturating our lives in Scripture. Further, the blood of Jesus was poured out on the cross for our atonement, as the fulfillment of hundreds-of-thousands of symbolic sacrifices made by the priests of Hebrew people. In Christ, we are called a royal priesthood, who express our faith every day, when we come to God by the blood of Jesus. "Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus...let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water." (Hebrews 10:19-23). An ALTARed Life remains IN Christ by faith, both confessing the blood of Jesus as we come near to God, and being washed by the Word of God daily. Like butterflies, we  feast on the sunflower, and rise to live by the Son in us.

Father, thank You for the eyes that read this prayer. By the blood of the Word, You are calling your children home. I pray that You would give us confidence to draw near to You each day by reading the scriptures and trusting in the blood of Jesus to wash away all sins. Help us to get as close to You as the disciple John, who lay his head on Jesus' chest and heard His heartbeat. We want to know You Lord, and often feel afraid to come because we are so distracted, double-minded, trapped by the flesh, and broken. Forgive us for trying to clean ourselves, and forgetting that You gave Your Son to give us the courage to come by faith every day. Today, we confess the blood of Jesus is enough and we enter into Your Presence washed by the truth. Father, I pray that we would remain in You through the new life of Christ IN us them as Christ is IN You. Fill us anew in the power of Your Holy Spirit even right now.
